Stick them together with a toothpick.
Make feet out of pipe cleaner. It was cute - Conrad was very delicate with it as he helped push in the feet and wings. Hana was all about business and doing the next thing to get the project complete. :)
Stick feathers in for the wings. You'll need to poke a hole with a toothpick and then slide in the feathers. Cut a little diamond for the beak and glue it on. Then use colored pins and stick them thru the head for the eyes. And enjoy.
The kids had fun helping me and picking out the colors they wanted and such. Good times!
Some tips: - that are helpful if you decide to try it: I would say if you are doing this with anyone younger than 8 years old, you (the adult) will probably be doing most of it. It would be a great one to do in an activity with 8 - 12 year olds - older than that, the craft would be a little juvenile for them. Or you could have older kids, like teens, teach the younger kids. Also if the kids are old enuf and can use a hot-glue gun it would be easier and faster.
Then on Friday, we stole Landon for a few hours and played with the 3 kids at the park and then went to McDonald's. Then we played at G-ma's house. That night our kids slept over at Brad and Kendall's and played with their cousins. SO fun! Then the kids slept at G-ma's house Saturday night.
Cute kids at McDonald's!!
The above consisted of only Thursday night and Friday day. The rest of the weekend was what made it the BEST!!! Scott and I had been planning a weekend together - so while the kids were with the rest of the family - we took a couple days and went hiking in Zion and were reminded of how FUN it is to be together and do what we love to do together - hike and be in God's creations. We hiked Angel's Landing Saturday (cool, hard hike), saw Fool's Gold movie (on the IMAX), good flick, and ate at Oscar's that night (the best restaurant there). We went cheap Saturday night and slept in the car. Half way through the night, I moved outside to have more room, which gave Scott more room in the car. The night was beautiful - cool desert air and tons of stars. It was a fun little adventure. Then we woke up, had bagels and hot beverages for breakfast and hiked Hidden Canyon. It was a gorgeous hike!!! Good times!!! We also had good, light-hearted, un-interrupted adult conversation! Nice! We needed a rekindling of romance and just good, adventurous, and relaxing FUN together! The BEST!!!
Big THANKS to my mom for being SO willing to just watch our kids overnight without hesitation!!! You do such fun, creative things with them! Also, Big THANKS to Brad and Kendall for offering (almost begging :) ) to take our kids overnight Friday! You all ROCK!!! It is really nice to know that it is a FUN thing for you guys and not a burden - we really appreciate it!!! It made our trip that much better! Thank you!
